Young Cossacks took the oath in the Church of the Nativitytranslated

On the Feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, after the Divine Liturgy, during which young Cossack children - schoolchildren of Cossack classes - received the Holy Mysteries of Christ, a solemn event took place.

For the guys to join the ranks of the Cossacks, Father Ioann Lapko together with Father Alexander Davidenko performed a prayer service.

The ceremony began with prayer singing and blessing. Initiation into Cossacks for children is like the oath for adult Cossacks. This rank is necessary for the child to feel with all his heart the special significance of his association with the Cossacks, so that he is proud of the title of Cossack and wears the Cossack uniform with honor.

After the prayer service, the young Cossacks, together with their Cossack mentor, read an oath. In it they promised to honor their elders, study well, sacredly preserve the Orthodox faith, protect and defend the interests of the Motherland and the Cossacks. Then, to confirm their words, the guys came up one by one, were baptized and venerated the Gospel, the Holy Cross. They approached the banner, kneeled on their right knee, kissed it, and then kissed the saber.

At the end, the priest sprinkled the young Cossacks with holy water.
