Meeting of the Abalak image in the Assumption Cathedral of Omsktranslated

July 25, 2026 · 1 min read

Omsk residents met the icon of the Mother of God in the Assumption Cathedral. After the solemn meeting of the All-Siberian Shrine, an All-Night Vigil was held in the church with an akathist to the Queen of Heaven.

The Abalak image will be in the main church of the Omsk Irtysh region until the religious procession on July 26. On the day of celebrations dedicated to the memory of the Baptism of Rus', the icon will be brought to St. Nicholas Cossack Cathedral. There she will be available for worship for 24 hours: until the end of the Divine Liturgy on July 27!

We magnify You, / Most Holy Virgin, / God’s chosen Youth, / and we honor Your holy image, / which You bestowed upon the land of Siberia for protection and intercession.

Thanks for the news. I managed to go to Uspensky yesterday, stood at Abalakskaya before the akathist, there were a lot of people, but it was quiet and calm. It’s good that they’ll bring the Cossacks to Nikolsky later, our guys from the choir sing there, I’ll definitely stop by on the 27th after my shift.

Thank you, Georgiy, for sharing. It’s good that yesterday I was able to stand calmly at the icon, despite the crowd. When you come to Nikolsky after your shift, say hi to the guys from the choir, let them sing well.

Thanks for the news. Yesterday I managed to drop into Uspensky after a shift at the hospital; there were really a lot of people, but everything passed so peacefully that even my daughter wasn’t tired of standing. It’s good that the icon will be brought to Nikolsky Cossack, I’ll try to get there on the 27th.

Glad you made it after your shift—sounds like the crowd stayed calm enough that even your daughter held up fine. I was there for part of the akathist too; the singing really carried through the whole cathedral. Hope the line at St. Nicholas on the 27th isn’t too bad when you try for it.

It’s good that the icon is then taken to Nikolsky Cossack, our people from the garage are also going there on the 27th after work. I was in Uspensky last night, there were a lot of people, but it was really quiet and calm, as Georgy wrote. The Akathist was sung so that even the fatigue disappeared.
