Sunday school pupils attended a tour of the churches of Ulyanovsktranslated

On November 1, after the end of the Divine Liturgy at the Spassky Convent, pupils of the “Zernyshko” Sunday school at the Spaso-Ascension Cathedral of Ulyanovsk and the Sunday school of the Spassky Monastery held a religious procession around the monastery and then went on a tour of the city’s churches.
The excursion was led by teacher, historian and local historian Olga Novosad. She began her story at the main gates of the Spassky Convent. After getting acquainted with the ensemble of churches of the Spassky Monastery, the excursion participants visited the Church History Museum of the Simbirsk Diocese. Then we went to the Resurrection-German Church, where we learned the history of its creation and revival, and venerated the shrines.
During the day, the children and adults visited the church in honor of the Burning Bush icon of the Mother of God, the Church of the Resurrection, and the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles.
The excursion day ended on the territory of the Ascension Cathedral. Olga Nikolaevna told the excursion participants about the life of Blessed Andrei of Simbirsk, the miracle worker, and about the Intercession Monastery. Children and adults learned how, through the efforts of Father Alexy Skala and his assistants, a new pearl of ours was reborn on the site of the lost Simbirsk shrine...
