The volume "Brâncusi - Orthodox Christian Sculptor", signed by His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel, was presented on Thursday in Cambridge. On this occasion, Archbishop Athanasius of Great Britain and Northern Ireland emphasized that the work "invites us to rediscover the deep connection between faith and culture".

The event brought together representatives of the academic and ecclesiastical environment, clergy, students and lovers of art and Christian spirituality.

At the opening of the event, Father Dragoș Herescu, the director of the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies in Cambridge (IOCS), highlighted the mission of the institution to promote the Orthodox spiritual heritage and to cultivate the dialogue between faith, culture and contemporary society.

I hadn't realised Patriarch Daniel had written a whole book on Brâncuși. The bit about rediscovering the link between faith and culture makes sense — those endless columns and birds always felt quietly prayerful to me. Nice to see it discussed at the IOCS in Cambridge.
