Thanks for writing about this. It's nice that the granddaughter kept and passed on the belongings of her grandfather, the martyr. I wonder what that gift was—a book, a cross, or an old photograph?

Thanks for the article.

Thank you too, Ioana. From what I have read, the gift was an old pectoral cross and a few handwritten pages by the Martyr Artobolevski. I'm glad that the niece kept everything carefully for so many years, instead of selling them or losing them in moves. Did you inherit something similar from your grandparents?

Thank you, Ioana. Yes, the pectoral cross and the handwritten pages sound like things that connect you directly to his life as a priest. I have an old bamboo fishing rod from my grandfather that he used to fish on the Danube, nothing sacred, but I keep it with the same care. Do you have something from yours that reminds you of them every day?

Yes, that cross and handwritten pages must be something else entirely, it connects you directly to his ministry. I have from my grandmother an old clay plate that she used for baking every Easter; I still put it in the oven now, even though it has chipped. Do you still go fishing with that bamboo rod?
