Bishop Alexy met with Orthodox pilgrims from Yekaterinburgtranslated

After the Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass met with representatives of the Orthodox community from Yekaterinburg. The guests spoke about the life of the community and asked questions about how to develop parish life, involve the laity in church service and engage in internal mission. Bishop Alexy spoke about the need to involve active laity in church life. “We are in great demand for people—active, kind, good people who want to serve God and serve the Church,” the archpastor noted. Discussing work with young people, Metropolitan Alexy emphasized that it is important to talk with young people openly and as equals, without a didactic tone: “We must talk to them as with friends, as with loved ones.” The senior priest of the cathedral, Hieromonk Alexy (Zagorodnov), spoke about parish work: evangelical conversations for parishioners, volunteer meetings and the youth movement. Starting in September, the cathedral plans to open a Sunday school for adults. CDRO Chelyabinsk Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.
