The owner of the Love is brand filed a lawsuit against Moscow Potatoes over advertising for Valentine's Daytranslated

The Dutch company Minikim Holland B.V. — the owner of the Love is brand — filed a lawsuit in the Arbitration Court of the Kaluga Region against the Magnit chain and Moscow Potato. Kommersant reports this.

The Dutch company's claims relate to the promotional campaign for Valentine's Day on February 14, “Love in Every Pack,” which ran from February 1 to March 31. According to the company, the chip manufacturer used on the packaging “an image of a boy and a girl, which is traditionally used by Love is, confusingly similar.”

Neither Moscow Potato nor JSC Tander (the operating company of the Magnit chain) have acquired a copyright license, Minikim Holland said.

According to lawyers, Minikim Holland B.V. Over the past two years, it has filed more than 20 lawsuits against Russian companies. In most cases, the courts found the use of elements of the Love is series without the consent of the copyright holder to be a violation.

Minikim stated that it was ready to reach an agreement with Moscow Potato, but the company stated that it was not interested in a settlement.
