I hope the authorities in Venezuela actually listen to what the bishops are saying, because the negligence and corruption after those earthquakes have already destroyed too many lives. Thank God for volunteers and rescuers, they are the real heroes now. Pope Leo XIV showed again that the Church is close to those who suffer.

If the Venezuelan authorities listen to the words of the bishops to not allow corruption in the reconstruction, it will be good. A month after the earthquakes, people are still waiting for concrete help, not promises. I also thank the volunteers and rescuers, and appreciate that Pope Leo XIV remembered them.
