The pilgrimage to Saint Paraskeva began in Iasi: 31,600 people have already visited the relics

The traditional pilgrimage began in Iasi on October 8. This year, for the first time, pilgrims will be able to venerate not only the relics of St. Paraskeva, but also the relics of St. Paisius of Sichestria. By the morning of October 9, 31,600 people had visited the shrines, and thousands of pilgrims were in line. In total, about 300,000 people are expected in the city during the holiday, reports Ziarul de Iași.

The pilgrimage takes place at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Iasi. On the morning of October 8, the relics of Saint Paraskeva were carried in a religious procession around the cathedral, after which they were placed in the courtyard under a special canopy so that believers could approach them. They plan to leave the relics on the street until the flow of pilgrims decreases. Presumably, after October 15 they will be moved back to the cathedral.

In the courtyard of the cathedral, the relics were placed under a canopy decorated with fresh flowers. For 23 years in a row, the decorations have been handled by the Bustei family, who specially come from Bucharest. This year, roses, chrysanthemums and other flowers, mainly in purple, pink and burgundy shades, were used for decoration.
