October 13, 2026 · 1 min read

In the Vyborg region, burial ceremonies took place for the remains of 23 Red Army soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War.

The remains of seven Red Army soldiers who died in 1944 were interred at the Petrovka memorial. Sixteen more fighters were buried in the village of Ovsovo.

The remains of the servicemen were discovered by the search teams “Krasny Vyborzhets”, “Enso”, “Trizna” and “Our Time” and transferred for burial.

Veterans, schoolchildren, representatives of local authorities, clergy and the search movement took part in the memorial ceremonies. The memory of the victims was honored with a minute of silence and the laying of flowers. A triple salvo of weapons was fired in honor of the fallen soldiers.

The funeral litany at the Petrovka memorial was performed by the head of the Missionary Department of the Vyborg Diocese, Priest Mikhail Kotov.

Before the start of the service, Father Mikhail addressed those gathered with a sermon.
