The first meeting of the literary club “Man and Eternity” took place in Vyborgtranslated

On October 15, the first meeting of the literary club “Man and Eternity,” a joint project of the Vyborg diocese and the library, implemented with the assistance of the Synodal Missionary Department of the Russian Orthodox Church, took place at the Alvar Aalto Central City Library in Vyborg.
The meeting on the topic “The Man Who Lost Himself” was held by the head of the Missionary Department of the Vyborg Diocese, Master of Theology, cultural scientist, Priest Mikhail Kotov.
The starting point for the conversation were works of Russian classical literature - Leo Tolstoy’s story “The Death of Ivan Ilyich” and Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin’s fairy tale “The Wise Minnow”.
Participants reflected on freedom, life choices, loneliness and the search for meaning in existence. One of the main questions of the meeting was thinking about how a person can live an outwardly prosperous and successful life, but still not find himself.
