The day of remembrance of St. Olav Equal to the Apostles was celebrated in Vyborgtranslated

On July 29, on the day of remembrance of Saint Equal-to-the-Apostles Olav, the enlightener of the northern lands and the heavenly patron of Vyborg, festive services were held in the Transfiguration Cathedral.

The Divine Liturgy was led by the secretary of the Vyborg diocese, dean of the Vyborg district, Archpriest Igor Aksyonov. Concelebrating with him were the deans of the districts, the clergy of the Vyborg diocese and the clergy of the cathedral.

At the end of the Liturgy, Father Igor addressed the worshipers with a sermon dedicated to the life path and Christian exploit of St. Olav. The priest recalled the significance of the saint for the history of the northern lands and the city of Vyborg.

Then the clergy and laity made a religious procession from the Transfiguration Cathedral along Krepostnaya Street to Castle Island. Participants in the procession carried an icon of St. Olaf Equal to the Apostles and his holy relics.

The procession went up to the upper courtyard of the Vyborg Castle, where a prayer service was performed at the tower of St. Olav to the heavenly patron of the city. After the prayer service, Father Igor addressed those gathered, talking about the event being celebrated and the spiritual significance of the veneration of St. Olav.
