Celebrations in honor of the city’s 891st anniversary were held in Volokolamsktranslated

On July 25, Volokolamsk celebrated the 891st anniversary of the founding of the city. The festive events began with prayer - the Divine Liturgy in the Resurrection Cathedral of the Volokolamsk Kremlin was led by Archbishop Thomas of Odintsovo and Krasnogorsk, co-served by the dean of the Volokolamsk district, Archpriest German Grigoriev, and the clergy of the deanery.

The head of the Volokolamsk municipal district, Natalya Yuryevna Kozlova, prayed during the service.

At the special litany, the bishop offered a prayer for Holy Rus'.

The sermon on the sacramental verse was delivered by the rector of the Elias Church. Ilyinskoye priest Evfimy Knyazhev.

At the end of the liturgy, a thanksgiving prayer service took place before the Volokolamsk Icon of the Mother of God.

In honor of the 45th anniversary and for diligence in service, the rector of the Kazan Church. Yaropolets priest Mikhail Zavitaev was awarded the medal of St. Leukius of Volokolamsk, III degree.

Bishop Thomas addressed the clergy and flock with a welcoming speech, in which he congratulated all residents of the city on the day of its foundation.
