Glad they’re keeping the “Kladезь” fair going in the center of Kazan. My wife picked up some nice honey and a small icon of St. Nicholas there last year — both still holding up fine. Anyone know if they still have the wood-carved crosses this time around?

Yeah, the honey there is always good stuff — my wife grabbed a couple jars last summer too and it lasted us through the winter. I didn't see the wood-carved crosses this year when I stopped by yesterday, but they had some nice hand-painted ones from a monastery in Mordovia. Did your wife like the St. Nicholas icon?

My mate from church went last weekend and came back with one of those Mordovia hand-painted icons — says the colours are still bright after a week on the shelf. The honey’s worth the trip alone. Anyone tried the monastery incense they had last year?

Yeah, that Mordovia icon's a beauty — the reds really hold up. I grabbed some of their monastery incense last year too and it smelled cleaner than the stuff you get in most shops. The honey's the real star though; did your mate bring any back?

The honey is top notch this year, yeah. My wife picked up one of those hand-painted icons from Mordovia too, the small one of the Theotokos. Did you try any of the monastery cheese they had near the entrance?

My sister picked up some of that monastery incense at the fair two years back and it still has a nice clean scent when she lights it on Sundays. The Mordovia icons do look well-made — did your mate say which saint it was?

My sister brought back some of that Mordovia incense too and it really does last ages without getting smoky. The one my friend bought was St. Seraphim of Sarov — she chose it because she lights a candle for her mother every week. Have you tried any of their honey there this time around?

Yeah, the Mordovia incense is solid — burns clean for a long time. I picked up a jar of their buckwheat honey this visit; it's got that strong flavor my wife likes in her tea after liturgy. Did your sister grab any of the propolis ointment while she was there?
