3 октября 2026 года, в субботу 18-й седмицы по Пятидесятнице, по благословению Патриаршего Экзарха Юго-Восточной Азии, митрополита Сингапурского и Юго-Восточно-Азиатского Сергия, в Свято-Успенском храме г. Сингапура было совершено Таинство Крещения шестерых местных жителей.

В Крещении им были наречены имена: Марина, Нина, Иоанн, Лонгин, Эдвин и Авенир.

I'm glad for these six - especially for Longinus and Abner, names that are not the most common. This means that local residents in Singapore came to the Church in earnest. The Assumption Church is probably small, but it is clear that it is a living thing.

It's nice to see six locals baptizing in Singapore. I was also interested in the names Лонгин and Авенир, you don't see that very often. I hope they feel at home in that little church of theirs.

I agree, Longinus and Avenir are a real rarity, especially for Singaporeans. This means that the person did not just “receive baptism”, but actually delved into the lives. Their church is really small, but from the photo you can see that a lot of people gathered, even from other parishes. What do you think, are such rare names most often chosen deliberately or is it suggested by the priest?
