In the capital of Madagascar, they began to build the Church of the Holy Image of the Savior Not Made by Handstranslated

Construction of the church of the Russian Orthodox Church in the name of the Image of the Savior Not Made by Hands began in the capital of the Republic of Madagascar, the city of Antananarivo.
In connection with the start of construction work, on September 28, 2026, the local newly established parish was visited by the rector of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Port Louis (Republic of Mauritius), Archpriest Dimitry Matienko, reports the website of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
Father Demetrius was entrusted with the construction and arrangement of the church in the name of the Image of the Savior Not Made by Hands.

In the first two days of his stay in Antananarivo, Father Dimitri discussed the construction of the church with local priests, met with construction companies and organized the purchase of necessary building materials.
The clergyman also handed over cassocks, holy chrism and incense to the dean of the Northern Church District of Madagascar, Priest Vasily Randrianive.
On September 30, Father Dimitri, co-served by Priest Alexy Erizu, performed a prayer service for the beginning of construction, after which the builders began work.
