In the village of Uvalnaya Bitiya, Sargat district, a memorable event took place, marking the beginning of the spiritual revival of the rural shrine.

With the blessing of His Eminence Vincent, Bishop of Tara and Tyukalinsk, a prayer service was performed on the site of the future church in the name of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki for the founding of the church. The rite of consecration and hoisting of the Worship Cross, as well as the laying of the memorial stone, was performed by the dean of the Sargat district, Abbot Seraphim (Maksimov), in the co-service of the clergy of the deanery.

The congregational prayer was attended by clergy, village residents, fellow countrymen and guests. Turning to the Lord in prayer, those gathered asked for God's blessing for the good work of building the House of the Lord. The hoisting of the Holy Cross became visible evidence of the continuity of the traditions of our ancestors and the strengthening of faith in our native land.
