In Russia, the number of homeless women turning to church shelters is growingtranslated

Over the past year, the number of homeless women who turn to church shelters for help has increased in Russia.
Most often, such assistance is required by elderly women and women with children, the press service of the Synodal Department for Charity reported on the occasion of World Homeless Day on October 10.
“Among the homeless, the majority are always men, but recently the proportion of women has begun to grow,” said Andrei Yakunin, head of the homeless assistance department of the Synodal Department for Charity. – Often elderly people and women with children come to us, mainly because of problems in relationships with loved ones. Some of them have lost social connections due to illness, alcohol addiction or mental disorders. We try to approach each person with special attention - we delve into the life situation and create an individual route that will help get out of the situation of homelessness. For this purpose, lawyers, doctors, psychologists, narcologists and social workers work. Also, priests communicate with people who live in our shelters, they support them spiritually.
