Fascinated that Yekaterinburg is holding the 8th St. Elizabeth Readings—I’d love to hear if they’ll connect it to how Melkite parishes like ours in Melbourne keep her memory alive on October 14th at St. George’s.

Thank you for the information about St. Elizabeth’s readings in Yekaterinburg. I wonder how exactly they will connect with the tradition in Melbourne at St George's?

The Church of Saint George in Limassol has been celebrating Saint Elizabeth on October 14 for years, on the same date. It will be interesting to know if they will exchange notes with the Melbourne parish over the holidays.

Interestingly, both in Limassol and in Melbourne they keep exactly October 14 for St. Elizabeth. Here in Burgas, we also celebrate it on this day in the church, but I did not know that it was related to the Yekaterinburg readings. Perhaps at the 8th St. Elizabeth readings they will invite someone from these parishes to tell how exactly they keep her memory.

Interesting, Bogdana, I didn't know that both Limassol and Melbourne celebrate October 14th. In Burgas, your church clearly keeps the tradition stable. Maybe it's really worth inviting someone from there to the readings - to hear exactly how they do it around the world.

Interesting observation, Angeliki. In Melbourne they celebrate St. Elizabeth on September 5th along with St. Irene, if I remember correctly from old letters from friends there. It would be good to contact the parish of Limassol to see how they organize the litany and the treats after the service. Have you ever been to these events in Cyprus?

Yes, Angeliki, Limassol has a long tradition with Saint Elizabeth on October 14th. It would be useful to know how they manage the big festivals there, maybe they can get ideas from Melbourne for the treats. Have you ever been to their party?

Thank you, Love, for noticing this connection. As far as I heard from the organizers, the program is planning a separate report about the Australian tradition of venerating St. Elizabeth in the Church of St. George in Melbourne - with photographs and a story about how the descendants of Russian emigrants still gather there. Have you been to similar readings before?

Yes, Limassol has been holding fast to October 14 for years. It would be good if they could share details with Melbourne on how they manage to pack so many people without getting wasted. You, Angeliki, have you ever seen their litany up close?

Yes, Metodi, in Burgas on October 14 we always serve for St. Elizabeth and make a vodosvet with ayazmo. I didn't know Limassol and Melbourne kept the same date - interesting. Maybe they should really invite someone from there to tell how exactly they score.
