A scientific and practical conference was held in the Yekaterinburg diocese as part of the “School for Education of a Culture of Sobriety”translated

As part of the network educational program “School for the Education of a Culture of Sobriety” of the Social and State Movement “Guardianship of National Sobriety”, a scientific and practical conference was held on September 8, 2026, organized by the Department for the Promotion of Sobriety and Prevention of Addictions of the Yekaterinburg Diocese with the support of the Ministry of Education, together with the regional Institute for Educational Development. More than 800 teachers and specialists from the Ministry of Education took part in the event.

The purpose of the conference is to identify the pedagogical foundations for fostering a culture of sobriety in the education system in the Middle Urals.

Metropolitan Ekaterinburg and Verkhoturye Evgeniy addressed the conference participants with greetings. The Bishop emphasized that “raising a culture of sobriety is what we turn to primarily because it is the tradition of our people.” The Ekaterinburg diocese, together with the regional Ministry of Education, has the opportunity to interact and cooperate in solving this important task - raising sober generations.
