With the blessing of Metropolitan Vasily of Ekaterinodar and Kuban, on October 9, clergy of the 5th, 6th and 7th Krasnodar deanery districts took part in commemorative events dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of the Krasnodar region from the Nazi invaders and the end of the battle for the Caucasus.

During the ceremony, words were spoken about the key events of the Battle for the Caucasus, which lasted 442 days - from July 25, 1942 to October 9, 1943. Participants recalled that the occupation of Krasnodar lasted 186 days, during which over 13 thousand civilians were killed and tortured. Krasnodar was liberated on February 12, 1943 by units of the 18th and 46th armies with the assistance of partisans. The Battle of the Caucasus ended on October 9, 1943 with the entry of units of the 56th Army to the Kerch Strait.

The clergy honored the memory of the fallen soldiers and offered prayers for the heroes who gave the country a peaceful future, and also reminded those gathered of the spiritual significance of the feat of the people who gave their lives for the freedom of their native land, and emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of those who stopped the enemy at the cost of their lives.
