The Day of Sobriety was prayerfully celebrated in the Panteleimon Church in Gomeltranslated

On September 11, in the Church of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon in Gomel, a prayer service was held for those suffering from the disease of wine drinking and drug addiction and a conversation about sobriety. On the day of remembrance of the Beheading of the Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John, the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the Day of Sobriety.
After the service, the church cleric, coordinator of the department for working with alcohol and drug addicts, Priest Alexander Grishanenko, held a conversation about the virtue of sobriety. The priest recalled the Gospel call to watch and pray so as not to fall into temptation (Matthew 26:41).
At the end of the meeting, everyone was given bookmarks with an appeal to a sober lifestyle.
The annual celebration of Temperance Day on September 11 was restored by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on July 25, 2014.
