Construction of the church in honor of the Great Martyr St. George the Victorious in the capital's Kurkino district will resume in October, and its commissioning is scheduled for 2028, said Russian State Duma deputy, Patriarchal Advisor Vladimir Resin.

The new stone church is designed for 500 people, next to it there will be a spiritual and educational center “Ichthys”, reports the press service of Vladimir Resin.

“The project was made in the neo-Byzantine style, characteristic of church architecture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This appearance fits well into the modern development of the area and creates a sense of continuity,” the statement says.

The capital church will be five-story, with a total area of ​​about 1,200 square meters. m. It is planned to install 12 bells on the bell tower, which is more than 30 m high.

By June 2026, the altar area had already been erected, the bell tower had almost been completed, the reinforced concrete frame was more than 80% ready. Now the builders have begun the domed structures of the main hall. Construction work was temporarily suspended from August to September to collect donations from parishioners and search for a benefactor for the next stage of work.
