The XIV Sergius spiritual and educational readings were held in the Novorossiysk diocesetranslated

On October 15, 2026, the XIV Sergius spiritual and educational readings of the Novorossiysk diocese on the topic “Christian teaching about man and the challenges of modern technologies” took place in Gelendzhik.

Delegations of six municipalities of the Krasnodar Territory, which are part of the Novorossiysk diocese, took part in the readings: Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Crimean, Slavyansky and Temryuk districts. Among the participants were clergy, representatives of government authorities, the teaching community and the public.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Vasily of Ekaterinodar and Kuban, the event was attended by the secretary of the diocesan administration, Archpriest Dimitry Rudnev, who announced Metropolitan Vasily’s greetings.

In his address, Metropolitan Vasily drew attention to the spiritual challenges of the digital age, emphasizing the importance of maintaining live communication, inner freedom and time for prayer. Relying on the patristic heritage, Metropolitan Vasily recalled the dignity of man as the image of God and the need to preserve inner peace from information noise, not allowing technology to crowd out communication with others and spiritual life.
