The Novo-Tikhvin Convent will prayerfully celebrate the day of memory of the founder and first abbess of the monastery, Abbess Taisiatranslated

The Alexander Nevsky Novo-Tikhvin Convent of Yekaterinburg is preparing to celebrate the day of remembrance of the founder and first abbess of the monastery, Abbess Taisia. With the blessing of Metropolitan Evgeniy of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye, the sisters of the monastery invite everyone to honor the memory of the ascetic of holy life on October 14, 2026.
Abbess Taisiya (Kostromina) became the founder of the Novo-Tikhvin convent and its first abbess. Exactly 200 years ago, in the fall of 1826, Mother Taisiya departed to the Lord. Today she stands before the Throne of God and, as the Orthodox believe, hears everyone who turns to her asking for help and intercession.
Commemorative events will begin in the morning. After the Divine Liturgy, at 8:00, a litany for Abbess Taisia will be celebrated in the Church of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky.
At 16:00, a memorial service will be celebrated at the grave of Mother Taisia by Metropolitan Ekaterinburg and Verkhoturye Evgeniy.
At 17:00, everyone will be able to join the free excursion “The Legacy of Abbess Taisia: on the 230th anniversary of her arrival in the monastic community.” Participants gather at the central entrance to the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky.
