Good to see the lads from the youth club at Holy Trinity getting hands-on with proper history instead of just sitting through another lecture. The bit about the interactive format and the First World War soldiers' stories sounds like it stuck with them better than a textbook ever would. Wonder if they brought out any old maps or letters from the trenches.

Yeah, the interactive side with the old maps and trench letters really seems to have hit home for them. One of the lads from the youth club told me later he couldn't believe how young some of those soldiers were, barely older than him. Did they show any photos of the equipment or uniforms as well?

Da, hărțile alea vechi și scrisorile din tranșee chiar au prins bine, băieții s-au uitat cu ochii mari. Noi la clubul nostru din Craiova am folosit și poze cu puști și ranițe din 1916, ca să vadă cât de grea era povara lor la vârsta lor. Ai încercat și cu o lecție scurtă de încărcare a unei arme de atunci?

Da, hărțile și scrisorile alea chiar fac diferența, băieții noștri s-au prins repede cum era viața în tranșee. Noi n-am ajuns încă la lecția cu încărcatul armei, dar am adus o raniță veche de la un unchi din armată și au încercat să o care vreo 200 de metri prin curtea parohiei. Ai folosit și ceva din familia ta sau doar din colecția clubului?

Da, fotografiile cu echipament au fost esențiale, băieții au rămas uimiți cât de grea era ranița aia din piele. La noi am pus și o cască originală pe masă, ca să o atingă. Ai folosit și ceva din partea românească, gen scrisori de la soldații noștri din 1916?
