On July 26, 2026, on the 8th week after Pentecost, the day of remembrance of the holy fathers of the six Ecumenical Councils, the Council of the Archangel Gabriel, Archbishop Varlaam of Makhachkala and Derbent celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Assumption Cathedral of the capital of Dagestan.

His Eminence was co-served by the clergy of the Assumption Cathedral.

Liturgical chants were performed by the choir of the cathedral church under the direction of Honored Artist of the Republic of Dagestan Natalya Makeeva.

After reading the Gospel, the bishop addressed the flock with an archpastoral word.

At the special litany, special petitions were offered. Archbishop Varlaam read a prayer for Holy Rus', performed in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

The sermon before communion was delivered by the rector of the church in honor of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir of Makhachkala, Priest Vladimir Filchakov.

At the end of the service, Father Vladimir held an evangelical conversation with parishioners at the diocesan spiritual and educational center on the territory of the Assumption Cathedral.
