On the 4th week after Pentecost, Archbishop Varlaam celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Assumption Cathedral of Makhachkalatranslated

On June 28, 2026, on the 4th week after Pentecost, the day of remembrance of St. Jonah, Metropolitan of Moscow and All Rus', wonderworker, and St. Michael, first Metropolitan of Kyiv, Archbishop Varlaam of Makhachkala and Derbent celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Assumption Cathedral of Makhachkala.
The night before, the hierarch led an all-night vigil in the cathedral church. During the service, the ruling bishop blessed four applicants preparing to enter theological school this year to wear a cassock and surplice.
During the Liturgy, after reading the Gospel, the bishop addressed the flock with an archpastoral word.
At the special litany, special petitions were offered. Archbishop Varlaam read a prayer for Holy Rus', performed in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.
After the communion verse, the dean of the Makhachkala church district, Priest Sergiy Abasov, announced the address of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill on the occasion of the celebration of All-Russian Youth Day.
At the end of the Liturgy, Father Sergius held another evangelical conversation with parishioners in the diocesan spiritual and educational center on the territory of the Assumption Cathedral.…
