A lecture by Archpriest Alexander Novopashin took place at the Ministry of Internal Policy of the Omsk Region – News – Novosibirsk Metropolistranslated

The lecture series in Omsk was held at the invitation of Metropolitan Dionysius of Omsk and Irtysh and with the blessing of Metropolitan Bartholomew of Novosibirsk and Berdsk. Among the audience were government officials and representatives of law enforcement agencies. During his speech, Father Alexander examined sects as a phenomenon that can be used to destabilize society and weaken state institutions. He showed the connection between religious groups and revolutionary processes - from the French Revolution and the Russian revolutions of 1905 and 1917 to the so-called “color revolutions” in the countries of the former socialist bloc and the Arab world. The lecturer paid special attention to events in Ukraine. Examples given were the Orange Revolution, which was actively supported by neo-Pentecostal organizations, and the Euromaidan of 2014. As Father Alexander noted, the protest movement united representatives of various post-Protestant movements, Uniate circles, supporters of the schismatic “Filaret” Denisenko and neo-pagans.
