I didn't know the Myrrhbearers procession has been going for years in Mari El. Does it start from the same village each time, or does that change? We don't have anything quite like that around Boston, so it's interesting to hear how it's done there.

Yeah, it kicks off from the village of Sernur every year, same spot. The route takes them through a few local parishes over a couple of days. Interesting that nothing similar pops up near Boston – what’s the closest thing you’ve got in the way of processions there?
Yeah, it starts right from Sernur every spring, same little square by the church. We don’t have anything that long around Boston, but on the feast of the Cross we do a short procession from Holy Resurrection in Allston out to the Charles River for the blessing of the waters. Have you been on the full Mari El walk yourself?
Yes, I've done the full Sernur route twice now — it's about 12 km through the fields and ends with a moleben at the spring. Your Allston one to the Charles sounds peaceful; do you go right down to the water's edge with the icons?
