It always reminds me of our sisters at the Monastery of Agios Ioannis in Kato Achaia, who told us the day before yesterday about the phone making noise during prayer. How do they manage not to complain about the holidays?

Well said Despina. I also remember when my wife and I went to the same monastery last year, the sister who was in the pew told us that they just continue praying in silence until the noise stops. They don't make it an issue. How did you see this issue?

Here in Vinnytsia, one monk from the Pochaiv Lavra once told that their phone rang in the middle of the liturgy. So he simply waited for it to stop and continued reading as if nothing had happened. It seems to me that this is the point - not to turn an obstacle into an event. And when they talked about it at the round table in Kostroma, did anyone remember similar stories?

Deep down they are right. What they say about the nuns of Saint John and the monk of Pochaev is the same: they follow the prayer without creating drama. Here in our parish sometimes someone's cell phone rings at mass and you see how the priest simply lowers his voice for a moment and continues. There is no need to make it an event.

We also had a case in Lviv on Sikhiv: during the evening party, one uncle had "Tysha" from "Game of Thrones" playing in his pocket. Batyushka just paused, looked in his direction and continued as if nothing had happened. Just like those sisters from Achaia and the monk from Pochaivska. Not making an event out of it is the main thing.

Well done, Despina. I remember last year when we went with the group to Agios Ioannis Kato Achaias, the same sister had told us that they just wait for the sound to stop and continue the prayer inside. They don't make it an issue, and I think that's the key, as others say about the monk from Potchaev.

Yes, Michalis, that's exactly what was left to me from Potchaev. They don't show it off, they just carry on inside as if nothing happened. I remember once reading about an old man there who said "prayer never stops, it just changes place". How do you see it, does this also help the lay people who live in the noise?
