On the eve of the celebration of the Council of Valaam Saints, Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass celebrated an all-night vigil in the St. Simeon Cathedral. The ruling bishop was co-served by the clergy of the cathedral, headed by the clergyman, Archpriest Vladimir Manichev. The hymns were performed by the Bishop's Choir under the direction of regent Marina Goman. During the service, an excerpt from the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 28:16-20) was read, which talks about how the eleven apostles, after the Resurrection of Christ, come to Galilee and meet the Lord there. Jesus Christ tells them: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” He sends disciples to preach, to teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. “I am with you always, even to the end of the age,” says the Lord. During the reading of the canon, Metropolitan Alexy anointed the believers with consecrated oil.
