On Sunday, July 4, 2026, the Divine Liturgy in the Ascension Church in the village of Vakhrushi was served by the rector, Archpriest Alexander Matveev and Archpriest Andrei Lebedev, clergyman of the Transfiguration Convent in the city of Kirov.

Father Andrey, a teacher at the Vyatka Theological School, a member of the commission for the canonization of saints of the Vyatka Diocese, did not accidentally visit the Parish of the Ascension Church. The day before, on July 3, the Vyatka land honored the memory of the new martyr, priest Nikolai Florov (1870 -1933), a native of the Slobodsky district of the Vyatka province. With the blessing of Bishop Mark, the Parish is entrusted with annually honoring the memory of St. Nicholas the Confessor.

After the end of the service, Father Andrei held a conversation and presentation about the life and work of the new Vyatka saint.

“Saint Nicholas Florov helps in teaching, both students and teachers pray to him. Everyone knows St. Sergius of Radonezh, but millions pray to him, and here we have our own saint, ours, very close by. Also, Saint Nicholas the Confessor helps those singing in the church choir and is the patron of large families,” Archpriest Andrei Lebedev spoke about the veneration of the saint.

James CampbellThanks for posting this. Good to hear Father Andrew came from the monastery and gave that talk — I didn't know St. Nicholas Florov helps church singers and large families. We'll try to remember him on July 3 next year like the bishop asked.
