A service with audio commentary for blind parishioners was held in the Chebarkul churchtranslated

A Divine Liturgy with audio commentary for people with visual impairments took place in the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in the city of Chebarkul. The service, which coincided with the day of the dedication of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, was performed by the rector of the church, Archpriest Dimitry Egorov. The wards of the Chebarkul Society of the Blind prayed during the Liturgy. The initiator of holding such services at the parish was Olga Polyakova, assistant to the dean of the Chebarkul district for religious education and catechesis. She has undergone special training and has experience in audio commentary. Special equipment was used to transmit comments. “During the Divine Liturgy for blind parishioners, detailed comments were given during the service. We explained the features of its construction, talked about the importance of the participation of every Orthodox person in the Sacrament of the Eucharist, and also explained in detail the content of the Apostolic and Gospel readings,” said Olga Polyakova.
This practice helps people with visual impairments to better understand what is happening during the service and participate in common prayer with everyone. CDRO Chelyabinsk Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. All rights reserved.
