In the churches of the Gomel diocese they will commemorate the deadtranslated

Commemoration of the dead is an integral part of the prayer life of the Orthodox Church and an expression of Christian love, which does not end with the death of a person. Along with daily prayer for the departed, the church calendar establishes special days for their remembrance.

One of these days is Dimitrievskaya Parents' Saturday, which in 2026 falls on November 7. Funeral services will be held in the churches of the Gomel diocese, during which believers will be able to prayerfully remember their deceased relatives and friends.

On Friday, November 6, in the evening, a funeral service - parastas - will take place.

On Saturday, November 7, after the Divine Liturgy, a memorial service will be performed - a general prayer for all deceased Orthodox Christians.

Believers can take part in services and submit notes with the names of the deceased for church commemoration.

It should also be remembered that, in accordance with the established procedure for church commemoration, commemoration of persons who have arbitrarily taken their own lives is not performed during divine services.
