A ceremony to retire border guards to the reserve took place in Gomeltranslated

With the blessing of His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, the chairman of the department for interaction with the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies of the Gomel diocese, Archpriest Igor Olshanov, took part in the ceremony of retiring conscripts of the Gomel border group. The event took place on October 22, 2026 in Festivalny Park near the Mound of Glory.

Addressing the participants, Archpriest Igor noted that seeing off the reserve allows one to take stock of the results of service, maintain connections between generations of military personnel and strengthen continuity and respect for military duty.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives of city authorities and public organizations, veterans of the border service, students of military-patriotic classes and cadets, and parents of military personnel. The deputy head of the Gomel border group, Colonel Igor Melnik, delivered a parting speech.

The military personnel were awarded with thanks and certificates for diligence and distinction in service, as well as for the conscientious fulfillment of tasks to protect the State Border of the Republic of Belarus. The ceremony ended with a parade. The participants paid tribute...
