On September 25, the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the day of the second transfer of the relics of the holy righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye and the Wonderworker of All Siberia.
Traditionally, pilgrims from the Urals, Siberia and other regions of Russia will arrive these days in the spiritual capital of the Urals - Verkhoturye - to take part in services and venerate the holy relics of the righteous Simeon.
Bishop's services in Verkhoturye will be held on September 24 and 25, 2026.
On Thursday, September 24, in the St. Nicholas Verkhoturye Monastery, small vespers with the reading of the Akathist and an all-night vigil will be celebrated. Starts at 16:00.
On Thursday, September 25, the Divine Liturgy will be held at the monastery, which will be led by Metropolitan Evgeniy of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye and a host of archpastors. Starts at 8:30.
Let us recall that the righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye (+ 1642) was a nobleman, but hid his origins and led the humble life of a poor man. He walked around the villages and sewed sheepskin coats and other outerwear for free, mainly for the poor. At the same time, he deliberately did not finish sewing something - either sleeves or a collar, for which he suffered reproaches from customers. The ascetic traveled a lot, but most often lived in the village graveyard...
