On the Nativity of the venerable, glorious Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John, July 7, 2026, His Eminence Stephen, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Peter and Paul Cathedral of the city of Gomel near the walls of the baptismal church, consecrated in honor of St. John the Baptist.

His Eminence was co-served by the dean of the monasteries of the Gomel diocese, hegumen Theodorit (Zolotarev) and the clergy of the cathedral.

Рождество святого Иоанна Предтечи относится к великим праздникам Церкви. Saint John was born six months before the Nativity of Christ and was called to prepare people to meet the Savior. His birth from the elderly Zechariah and Elizabeth became a sign of God’s special action, and his entire ministry was directed towards repentance and internal correction of man.

During the Divine Liturgy, prayers for peace were offered.

At the end of the service, Archbishop Stefan addressed the worshipers with an archpastoral word, congratulated the communicants on the reception of the Holy Mysteries of Christ, and all those gathered on the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.

At the end, the Bishop gave the believers an archpastoral blessing.
