On August 2, 2026, on the day of remembrance of the holy prophet Elijah, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist in the city of Tyukalinsk. At the end of the service, the rector, Archpriest Dimitry Grishin, performed a prayer service.

The prayer was attended by parishioners, reserve soldiers of the Airborne Forces, relatives of the deceased participants of the Northern Military District, deputy head of the district N.L. Perevalova, volunteers of the group “ZOV Hearts. Tyukalinsk" and head of the branch of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" foundation.

A memorial service was held at the memorial stele for the Orthodox soldiers who died in Afghanistan, Chechnya, Syria and the Northern Military District zone.

In his pastoral speech, Father Dimitri recalled the words of the Gospel: “Greater love has no one than this if someone lays down his life for his friends,” calling on them to preserve the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland. The event ended with the singing of “Eternal Memory” and the laying of flowers.
