The patronal feast day of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God was celebrated in the village of Borshchevkatranslated

August 5, 2026 · 1 min read

The parish of the Church of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Borshchevka, Rechitsa district, celebrated its patronal feast day.

The Divine Liturgy on August 5, 2026 was led by the dean of the Rechitsa district, rector of the Holy Assumption Cathedral in the city of Rechitsa, Archpriest Alexy Peshko. The clergy of the Rechitsa deanery concelebrated with him.

Church parishioners and pilgrims prayed during the service. On this day, the Orthodox Church remembers the miraculous deliverance of the Assumption Pochaev Lavra from the siege of Turkish troops in 1675. According to church tradition, through the prayers of the brethren, the Most Holy Theotokos appeared over the monastery, after which the attackers retreated.

At the end of the liturgy, the clergy and believers made a religious procession around the temple.

Archpriest Alexy Peshko addressed those gathered with a pastoral word. He congratulated the rector, parishioners and pilgrims on the patronal holiday and wished them peace, spiritual strength and firmness in the Orthodox faith.

It’s good that such a holiday is celebrated in Borshchevka; I drove past there a couple of times in a truck. The procession around the temple is always real, especially when pilgrims come. Thanks to Father Alexy for the word about firmness in faith just in time.
