The Chelyabinsk diocese will celebrate the feast of the holy martyr Vasily Nosovtranslated

September 30, 2026 · 1 min read

October 4 is the day of remembrance of the holy martyr Vasily Nosov, one of the heavenly patrons of the Southern Urals. The day before, on October 3, an all-night vigil will be held in the churches of the metropolitan area, and on October 4 - the Divine Liturgy. The services will open a series of celebrations in honor of the Council of Saints of the Chelyabinsk Metropolis. Vasily Nosov served as a priest in the Southern Urals since 1919, and since the 1920s he was a cleric of the Peter and Paul Church in Miass. During the period of the Renovationist schism, he opposed the seizure of church property, for which he was repressed and sent to forced labor. After his release, Father Vasily returned to Miass and secretly cared for the believers. In 1937, he was arrested again on trumped-up charges of participation in a “counter-revolutionary organization.” The priest did not admit guilt and was shot on October 4. Presumably, his resting place is a mass grave on Zolotaya Gora in Chelyabinsk. In 2023, Vasily Nosov was canonized and included in the Council of New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church, and then in the Council of Saints of the Chelyabinsk Metropolis.

Construction of a church in his honor continues in Miass. On October 11, the celebrations will conclude with a citywide religious procession from the Golden Mountain memorial complex...
