The Association of Cinema Owners announced a refusal from shadow film distribution. And they added that “Dune” and “The Avengers” will be shown in Russia no earlier than April 2027translated

By the New Year, the practice of shadow distribution of foreign films under the guise of “pre-show service” in Russia will end. This assessment was expressed in a conversation with NSN by the Chairman of the Association of Cinema Owners (AVK) Alexey Voronkov.

“The practice of pre-session services will be completely discontinued, in our opinion, within the next two to three months,” said the head of AVK.

At the same time, the film exhibition rules approved by the government, allowing “shadow distribution”, are valid until March 1, 2028.

The head of AVK also commented on rumors that in Russia they may postpone the screening of the American blockbusters “Avengers: Doctor Doom” and “Dune: Part Three,” which will be released worldwide on December 16 and 17, for the sake of the premiere of the Russian film “Prostokvashino.” According to Voronkov, Russians may actually see the new parts of “The Avengers” and “Dune” much later than the world premiere, but not because of “Prostokvashino.”

“Currently, the release of The Avengers and Dune in Russian distribution is not planned for December, January, or March 2027, regardless of the Russian release schedule. These films have not been officially announced by any distributor, so it is incorrect to talk about their transfer. <…>…
