In grade 4 “a” of school No. 2 in Istra, a lecture was held dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the publication of the complete Synodal translation of the Bible into Russiantranslated

On September 25, an unusual lecturer, Priest Panteleimon Pavlushenko, visited the students of grade 4 “a” of school No. 2 in Istra. The meeting was timed to coincide with a significant date: the 150th anniversary of the publication of the complete Synodal translation of the Bible into Russian, which was published in 1876.

The priest told the children why it was so important to translate the Holy Scriptures from ancient languages ​​into the native language that was understandable to all Russian people. He explained that thanks to the work of translators of the 19th century, biblical stories became accessible not only to theologians, but also to every person, young and old.

The lecture was held in the format of a live dialogue. The fourth-graders listened with interest to how this book of books was created and asked questions that interested them. For many children, this was their first acquaintance with the history of Russian Orthodox culture and its written heritage.
