US State Department: Greece a leader in counter-terrorism and an example for other countries to follow

The United States has described Greece as a “leader in counter-terrorism” and a “example for other countries to follow”, praising its determination and effectiveness in combating far-left and anarchist terrorism, according to the State Department.
Responding to a question from Kathimerini newspaper on Tuesday following recent remarks by Secretary of State Marco Rubio concerning Greece, a State Department spokesperson highlighted the long-standing security cooperation between Athens and Washington, describing it as one of the strongest partnerships of its kind worldwide.
“By jointly confronting far-left and anarchist terrorism, Greece and the United States have forged a longstanding security partnership that is one of the best in the world. Highlighting our shared losses at the hands of terrorists not only underscores the severity of the threat but emphasizes the value of our international cooperation,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson noted that references to the losses both countries have suffered as a result of terrorism underscore both the seriousness of the threat and the importance of international cooperation in addressing it.
