October 3, 2026 · 1 min read

His Eminence Father Nifon, Archbishop of Târgovişte, Honorary Metropolitan and Patriarchal Exarch, on Friday blessed the foundation stone for the "Sfinții Trei Hierarhi" Chapel of "Valahia" University in Târgovişte.

The service was performed on the occasion of the opening of the new academic year. His Eminence emphasized that education is the foundation on which the future of a nation is built and the wellspring from which the well-being of a society is nourished.

"Throughout history, the Church has founded schools and universities, contributing decisively to the formation of young generations. And here, in Târgoviște, in the old Cetate de Saun, voivodeship and metropolitan, with the support of the Church, the famous Schola graeca et latina, the first institution of higher education from us, came into existence", recalled the honorary metropolitan.

The Archbishop of Târgoviste said that the new place of worship will be a place where both teachers and students will find the beauty, peace and joy of prayer.

"The chapel is not just a building, but a space where the academic community will find the depth that crosses the ages and the power to deepen knowledge."
