The University of Montreal awarded Nadia Comăneci the title of Doctor Honoris Causatranslated

The University of Montreal awarded Nadia Comăneci the title of Doctor Honoris Causa on Friday. "This is my tenth Olympic medal," said the champion, who has nine Olympic medals to her credit, the first of which was won in Montreal.

"Her exceptional career, marked by numerous international successes, as well as her sustained commitment to the Olympic movement and the development of gymnastics, continues to inspire generations of athletes around the world," the university representatives said.

Present in Montreal for the 50th anniversary of the Olympic Games, Nadia Comăneci received the distinction during a ceremony held at the Center for Physical Education and Sport of the University of Montreal (CEPSUM), together with the children participating in a day camp inspired by the Olympic universe.

Legendary figure of artistic gymnastics and symbol of the Olympic Games, at only 14 years old, Nadia Comăneci became the first gymnast in history to achieve a perfect score of 10.00 at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, forever redefining the standards of this sport.
