One of the oldest and one of the newest Ukrainian parishes recently celebrated its patron sainttranslated

Two Ukrainian parishes placed under the protection of the feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God recently celebrated their patron saint: one of the oldest in Romania - the one from Rona de Sus, Maramureș county, and one of the newest - the one from Soca, Timiș county.

In both localities, at the Divine Liturgy young people dressed in Ukrainian folk costumes from several neighboring localities participated in processions to the church – a tradition in Ukrainian communities.

Photo: Ioan Dorin Poinar The celebration at Rona de Sus began on Sunday, on the eve, with Vespers united with the Litia, and continued on Monday, with Matins, Holy Liturgy and Parastas.

The teaching word was spoken by Father Petru Rahovan, the Ukrainian Archdeacon of Sighet, who recalled the depth of the life of the Mother of God, showing how the Mother of Life and the door of our salvation was born from the womb of Saint Anne.

At the end of the Holy Liturgy, Father Iuri Cinar thanked all the participants and especially the ministers in the cathedral.
