A metropolitan of the Patriarchate of Antioch recommends an hour a day without a phone to rediscover peace of mindtranslated

Metropolitan Sava of the Antiochian Diocese of North America urges the faithful to give up the use of mobile phones for one hour every day, in order to rediscover peace of mind.

In a reflection published on his personal blog about the use of social networks, His Eminence related the experience of a group of women participating in a spiritual meeting, whom he urged to turn off their phones for an hour each day.

Although they initially found this exercise difficult, the participants found that temporarily giving up the phone brought them peace. Some of them even ended up forgetting about their mobile devices for the whole day.

"Try this yourself. Devote an hour each day to living as if you had no electronic means of communication, and you may discover a measure of inner peace and quiet."

The Metropolitan of Antioch emphasized that this experience can also become a form of Christian witness, through which each person can share with those around them the peace and joy acquired through a life lived with more discernment.
