The University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timișoara has launched a study program dedicated to the prevention and integrated management of obesity, the institution announces in a press release.
The two-year program is initiated and coordinated by Bogdan Timar, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine at "Victor Babeș" University and the president of the Romanian Society of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases.
Upon completion of their studies, graduates will be qualified as experts in obesity management, being prepared to provide an integrated, personalized and evidence-based approach to obesity prevention and treatment.
According to the academic institution, the program's curriculum is built to cover the entire obesity patient journey. Master's students will learn to perform the comprehensive assessment of the person with obesity, establish realistic and individualized therapeutic goals and integrate nutritional, behavioral, physical activity and pharmacological interventions, as well as surgical and endoscopic therapies when indicated.
