A Ukrainian went to court to prohibit a UOC parishioner from providing assistance to the communitytranslated

In the Poltava region of Ukraine, they tried to prohibit a parishioner from financially supporting an Orthodox church through the courts. As the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ) reported, a local resident demanded that Vladislav Kushnirenko’s donations to the community of the Nativity Church of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Zenkov be recognized as illegal. The corresponding application was received by the Shevchenkovsky District Court of Poltava.

The basis for the appeal was documents published by the rector of the church, priest John Babich. They confirmed that Kushnirenko regularly transfers donations to the religious community. The plaintiff considered such financial assistance illegal and demanded through the court to stop it in the future.
However, the trial on the merits of the claims has not yet begun. The judge found procedural violations in the filing of the application, including the lack of necessary documents and failure to pay the court fee. As a result, the claim was left without progress, giving the applicant ten days to correct the discovered deficiencies.
